Wife of racing boss found dead after dominatrix session 'was unaware of husband’s S&M penchant'

The chronically-ill wife of a British motor racing chief who died after a sadomasochistic sex session knew nothing of her husband’s penchant for S&M, it is understood.

Robin Mortimer, 58, was discovered dead at the villa of the self-styled torturer Miss Lucrezia in a tiny hamlet in western Belgium on Tuesday.

Mr Mortimer’s wife Bridget, 50, suffers from multiple sclerosis, and was too ill to speak about her husband’s death today.

The father-of-one had paid £600 to be 'punished' by two leather-clad women in a medieval-style 'dungeon', it was claimed.

He may have choked on a rubber ball or died after taking an anaesthetic designed to prolong sadistic sex sessions, prosecutors said.According to police sources, Mr Mortimer was found in a shower cubicle, trussed up and wearing a leather 'gimp' mask with a ball on a chain around his neck.

An ambulance had been called after attempts to resuscitate him failed.

In a statement, the family said Mr Mortimer, who lived with his wife in a £500,000 gated home in Rugby, Warwickshire, died of natural causes in his sleep at a hotel in Belgium.

But Mistress Lucrezia - a 46-year-old dominatrix whose real name is Ira van Damm - and her 'assistant' Mistress Juno, 37, have been arrested in Belgium on suspicion of assault and battery leading to Mr Mortimer's death, without intent to kill.

Mr Mortimer's demise marks an unsavoury end to an illustrious lifelong career in motor racing.

'No softie': On her website, Mistress Lucrezia says: 'In my nature, I'm a sadist of the worst kind'

He was a talented motorcycle racer and competed in grand prix competitions before switching to sports car racing in 1989. Before he died, he was head of the RPM Motorsport Team.

His father Charles was a renowned grand prix driver and his son Alex, 25, is a champion racer who still plans to compete in the International GT Open at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps this weekend in memory of his father.

It was while making the journey from Britain to that race on Tuesday in his BMW that Mr Mortimer left the convoy and took a detour to the quiet village of Sint-Job-in-’t-Goor  near Antwerp, investigators believe.

There he visited the villa named 'Torment Towers', where dominatrixes charge £250 an hour - or £4,000 for three days - to inflict 'extreme pain', 'humiliation' and 'torture' on clients using ropes, leather and rubber.

Police who searched the property said they found some of the most extreme sadomasochistic equipment they had ever seen, including a vacuum machine for wrapping men's bodies in air-tight clingfilm.

Miss Lucrezia, who has been running S&M sessions at the 'dungeon' for five years, says on her website: 'I am very good with CP (corporal punishment) and bondage with ropes, leather, rubber and cling film... and I have lots of tools to help me be creative to make each session one you will never forget.

'Of course you are also welcome as a cross-dresser or for humiliation play or education play such as horse training, dog training, school training or behavioural adjustment.

'Beware, I am not a softie. I'm sadistic, intelligent and perverse. In my nature, I'm a sadist of the worst kind.'

The women offer free transport to businessman from the train station or airport.

Miss Lucrezia is a regular visitor to Britain, where she has performed at clubs in London and Warwickshire.

A woman who lives near the detached Belgian villa told a local newspaper: 'This is a quiet street where families live. But after her arrival here there were suddenly all these expensive cars arriving, many with foreign licence plates.

'I finally complained to the police after scantily-clad people were turning up on my doorstep because they had got the wrong house.

'But we reached our limit when she started holding sadomasochistic sessions in her garden. My children could not play outside and my four-year-old daughter saw things she should never have seen.'

It is not known how long Mr Mortimer spent at the house or whether he had visited before.

The Antwerp prosecutor said he could have died after being given nitrous oxide, used as an anaesthetic to make sex sessions last longer.

The results of a post mortem are expected within days.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We can confirm the death of 58-year-old British man Robin Mortimer near Antwerp on June 22. Next of kin are aware and we are providing consular assistance.'

A spokesman for the Antwerp prosecutors office said the two women were being held in custody. He added: 'They have been charged with assault and battery leading to death, without intent to kill.'

Mr Mortimer's death comes after motorsport boss Max Mosley was filmed taking part in an S&M session with prostitutes, in which he paid them to act out fantasies including prison scenarios.

The F1 supremo was last year awarded £60,000 in damages against the News of the World newspaper over disputed claims it was a 'sick Nazi orgy'.

Racing driver Anthony Dunn drove for Robin Mortimer's team from 2006 to 2007, and said his former boss had been extremely popular.

He said: 'Robin had a larger than life personality. He was very well liked by all his team. He was a good patriot, he never missed a meeting and was always extremely good at finding drivers.'

Another former colleague, who did not want to be named, added: 'The circumstances in which he died are surprising but not shocking. I never knew anything like that about Robin, but knowing people in the motor racing industry, this doesn't surprise me.'
